Background International Seminar on Food Technology, Regulation and Security

The impact of globalisation has brought about various changes in our all aspects of life. Changes in food security, food distribution and availability of food in the food system are no exception. The rapid progress in the field of science and technology has indirectly  increased the demand for professionals and practitioners in both government agencies and food industries to be equipped with state of the art knowledge and skills. Most importantly, an insight to what food regulation has to offer will be beneficial in order to ensure issues pertaining to food security and halal are addressed appropriately to benefit the population.

Realising the importance of regulatory aspects of  food in enhancing knowledge in halal issues and food security, the Faculty of Science and Technology UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia will be organising this international seminar. Organised for the first time, this auspicious event is strongly supported by the LPPOM MUI and BPOM Republic of Indonesia who were instrumental in setting policies on halal, food security and regulation for food products.

A strong and solid partnership and proactive engagement are expected to be established between government, practitioners and academics with a motif to improve insights, updates on knowledge and research in the areas of food science while supporting technological development of safe food products in terms of halal and quality.

Object

  1. To bring together stakeholders to disseminate and discuss emerging issues and technology development in food products and the regulatory issues surrounding food development and distribution.
  2. To build a strong working partnership and cooperation between government agencies, academics and practitioners in terms of science and technology in food product development.
  3. To highlight insights and current knowledge for academics, researchers and practitioners who are actively involved in the development of food products.
